    Canon format error

Keep trying to format and install system software on a iR5055. When I put in a new hard drive (Same make and model) I keep getting aE240 error. No matter what hard drive I put in I keep getting the same error. Download and registered the newest firmware, same problem. ???

have u tried a different laptop ???--------------make sure u have only one ver of SST on laptop-------

Check the HDD Flat Ribbon Cable.

Check the ribbon cable to make sure it is properly mounted. >>>> then try to format again

If this issue is to persist after checking the ribbon cable, the ribbon cable should be considered to be replaced.
The part number for the ribbon cable is,
    FK2-3578-000, CABLE, FLAT HDD.
Check the image below for reference to the location of this ribbon cable.

Tried a different laptop with a different version SST. Got a error message "Error response01FF:Process has ended in error", E240.

Ok, so we have it down to either Main Controller connections, HDD, HDD Flat CABLE, or Your crossover cable.
Have you checked the boot rom position.

There is a internal communication connections issue.

??, when does this error pop up,
Is it when u select the Format file> Start ?
Or when u start SST, and select model under menu ?

When I select the Format and Start.

I put the old had drive back in the machine and the machine runs fine. Just trying to make another hard drive for backup.
I don't think it is the crossover cable because I just used it on another copier (iR4570 to format and load the System software.

Could be the HDD is bad ? or printer refuses to recognize it
