Wow this is an old machine!
Check no paper is trapped behind unit one, especially the rear connector block, only takes a small piece to cause this issue.
Failing that then you will need to replace the fuser drive clutch or the drive gears may have broken also.

blackcat: Master Of The Obvious =^..^=
The problem is a rear broken upper fuser gear. Part # FS5-0379-000, 45 teeth.
Apparently it is obsolete. Does anyone know where I might find one?
This is year 2017 not 1988
Most NP are scrap metal.
Just GOOGLE the part number :-))
See links for part.

**Knowledge is time consuming, exhausting and costly for a trained Tech.**
I was able to get the part from CSI. I installed it and now the machine works fine.
The challenging thing about this was that the cause of the malfunction was not immediately obvious. It was only after I found a small piece of the gear jn the mainframe that it became apparent. The remainder of the broken gear was still intact in its location, which is hidden under the the lamp cover.
