Customer complaining of dark streaks... I determined that the transfer belt appears to be the problem. I'm ordering belt ass'y but I have no idea on how to get the transfer belt ass'y out! Any help on this will be MOST appreciated.

Very rare to replace transfer belt, unless they are doing hundreds of prints, 99% of time we have found that the issues 99%(streaking, faded, white lines, dark lines ect) are from toner/drum cartridges. Just an observation from working on them for a few years.
I agree. That being said, the customer told me that the problem persists even after they change out the toner/drum ass'y. I cleaned the transfer belt both with the menu option as well as a physical cleaning and the problem was much better which led me to this trouble shooting conclusion. There is a black roller on top of the belt at the rear which looks for all the world like a charge roller so I cleaned that as well. Hmmm... I hope a transfer unit solves the problem.
If it's anything like the first version of that machine which I think was the 8450 you have to remove the toner units and the tray they fit into. At the front of the TB there are two large screws that you remove and move the narrow black assly which has a sensor in it up and to the left. Be careful the wires to the sensor have very little slack. Once somewhat out of the way you can lift the TB unit up and while lifting the rear at the same time you can maneuver it out the front. I am doing this from memory so you might want to have this info verified.
