    Problem with tonner motor

    hello friends
i am a junior technician, i'm working with a company which provides photocopier machines on rental basis to schools, offices, hospitals and other NGO for short term period.

i am facing a problem with canon IR 4570 machine, it is not giving any "low Toner" warning, previously it used to give this message,
another problem is that the toner bottle is not rotating !!

please can anybody guide me into this matter how to make it work normal.
even i want to disassembly the toner bottle motor, but at the rear part of the machine i found many cables, wires connected to the main board,
if i disassembly it, it may be very hard for me to assemble it again
is there any easy way to check the toner motor,

Note;- machine is with finisher unit

    thanking you in advance

    Re: Problem with tonner motor

I would start by checking the hopper for any damage
Next in line would be making sure the dev drive gear hasn't come off the developing unit
If the hopper looks okay it could have potential toner jammed inside it
you will need to strip machine down to check hopper and see if it turns freely
The company should provide you with access to service manuals to assist you with this problem

The plastic cams that rack the toner bottle in break, or just come loose, take the top cover off & finisher if it has one & visually check them.

Also cheat the toner door with paper etc & when the machine trys to add toner pull the toner bottle forward & see it is then starts to turn.

you mentioned the board with all the wires...

old trick that even some ol' farts forget....

take pictures of the boards BEFORE you remove and wires.. I also take a sharpie and mark the connectors on the board are UN populated... make sure on your pictures you get close enuff to discern the colors of the wires on the harnesses .. take multiple pictures if needed.

Yes i use the same idea as described
take clear photos using digital camera, mark each connector with different colored permanent markers,
draw the circuit board rough image on paper mark it write down so that you can understand it properly and completely
after doing all, get it working

    i tried lots of time

    best of luck

    Re: Problem with tonner motor

is the bottle cap (NOZZLE) in good condition if its broken it will not rotate the toner bottle

see for the good and damaged nozzle images (both images)

toner motor revolves rotating the nozzel of the bottle,
if the nozzel is damaged it cant rotate the bottle
so check if the nozzle is in good condition,
or if the motor is rotating freely without the toner bottle

try to pin-down the accurate problem

    Re: Problem with tonner motor

    Hi All
Thank You Very Much for your responses

i'v checked the nozzle it is in perfect condition, not the problem with it.

i have done as suggested and found that the toner motor may be stuck or jammed
it is not rotating / revolving itself,

(i tried without toner bottle & by placing a paper in the door sensor or the toner bottle compartment)

but it rotates hard when i try to rotate it with hand after removing the hopper unit.

    any suggestions to correct it
    what should i do
