    Adv6055 Jam Code 0202

Customer is getting intermittent Jam Codes 0202 and 0213. The main code is 0202, they can run 100 copies with no problem but then it will jam several times running smaller jobs. It started yesterday and has happened about 20 times today already. We aren't seeing anything out of place and since it can run a large job without incident I'm ruling out the sensor. Any ideas?

If its a 6055 and not 62xx check the delivery bushings. Open the delivery assembly with drawer open. Turn the gears on the rear of the delivery assembly. If hard to turn at all, clean the Oilite bushings. There actually is an upgrade to replace them with bearings(62xx has bearings). This will get rid of 01-12,02-12,01-13 and 02-13 jams. This machine uses a lot of stepper motors as opposed to DC motors and clutches of the past. When you load a stepper motor, it stalls(jam). I have had the same issues on the vertical rolls also.....bushings stall vertical motor. On those I pop the clip, slide the bushing toward the center out of the way, clean the shaft where the bushing will sit when installed, then thread a thin piece of rag(corner) thru the bushing on the shaft(or paper with alcohol on it). Hold the paper and turn the bushing to scrub the inside of it(flush it with alcohol if you can't clean it as described). Don't oil it or it will gum up again. Re-install and test it. I find machines will jam at first with gummy bushings but once it starts running steady will not misbehave.

Another thing to look into. In the vertical path, the upper roller might have lost its clip...causing the roller shaft to have some side-side play.

We get those jams from the 8105 series mostly. I replace the paper feed assembly. Most of the time it is from the left deck but can be from right deck (intermittent). I usually figure 100 copies no jams OK so I don't know why yours does on small jobs, 0202 jams (we suspect a solenoid but are able to replace entire feed unit which amounts to no call backs). For 0213 jams take the cover off the left side (remove finisher if it has one) and the jam sensor is behind the cover. That is an area that does not get serviced and you will most likely find a lot of paper dust and dust on the sensor.
