    C9075 Fixing Film Replacement Procedure

Does anyone have the procedure for the replacement of the fixing films (both upper and lower)? I have the fixing unit removed from the machine already but my manual doesn't seem to cover how to replace the films.

    Thanks.

You can't get just the belt from Canon...replace the whole upper and lower assemblies as units. And replacement procedure is in the manual in Chapter 4

The upper belt now is modified so it has a holder for the fixing lamp. Instructions in upper box and says to prevent wire getting in gear drive. Take off the white wire holder before putting it on lower unit. If you don't open and see it first you will have to take the lower one out (happened to me the first time). They still only last 8-18 months no matter how many copies. Very expensive. Rust and junk falls down onto the bushings causing noise or error code. I have been replacing them more for noise lately (squeak). All of mine are 7065's. It is easier with directions but I have put in 50 or so and only takes 30 min or so. Mainly it is lower unit but I replace both as I don't have to go back for same issue.

Re: C9075 Fixing Film Replacement Procedure

I did see that fixing unit removal video, that's how I found the rebuild kit. I started with the lower assembly and had no idea the instructions were rolled up and inside the upper fixing film. Thanks Dan!

I slowly and methodically pushed through the rebuild and have it reinstalled in machine however, it's now showing E00007-0001. After a few quick searches on what to do most results say to reset the error Copier > Function > Clear > Err. Which I have done a number of times but no luck. I really hate the idea that I screwed something up and have to begin again.

    Any advice?
    Thanks.

Found it. I did not have the upper fixing film in the proper position. It was a little more toward the gear side of the machine and the small post/pivot cam sensor thingy was doing its job flagging the misalignment. Removed a few items, gently slid it into position and running like a champ.

    Thanks for your help.

Re: C9075 Fixing Film Replacement Procedure

I have made great copies on this machine since I last posted that the fixing unit was reassembled and installed. I have not taken the time to find how to reset whatever counter is responsible for it saying "fixing unit nearing end life, contact service rep" or something like that. It must have crossed the hard limit today because it is no longer willing to make copies and gives error E0008-001. I have looked through all of the sections in the counter section but, I haven't seen one that has in it's description any mention of the fixer. It's a IR-A 9075c Pro. Any help greatly appreciated as always.

    Thanks.

Read the manual...it tells you exactly what to do when replacing it. When the grease inside gets stiff and dry, it causes the drive motor current to increase. This is how it determines life of unit. Current exceeds a certain amount= End of life. Manual clarifies it...you can work around it...

E008-0001 = Pressure belt unit life detection error

In this case E008-0001 was still indicating after replacing Upper and Lower Fixing Units, including the Fixing Motor M48.

In service mode under DISPLAY > FIXING > FX-MTR8 the value was at 53. Which, in this case, would indicate that the Pressure Belt Unit has reached its life.

    Solution :

Clearing the current value log of fixing motor on the service mode COPIER > FUNCTION > CLEAR > FX-L-CLR resolved the error code after power cycling the printer.

    ================================================== ================================================== ============================================

    FXMSG-SW =( N) = ON/OFF of Fixing Ass’y repalce warning display
N=Test not effective for iR AC90XXS PRO series.

In Service Mode Level 2 = To set whether to display the warning prompting to replace the Fixing Assembly on the Control Panel when the Fixing Assembly reaches its life.
When level 1 screen is displayed, press <LEVEL 1> in the right upper side of the screen, and it will switch to level 2.

Criteria for judging the life differ, depending on the setting value of FXMSGSW2.
FXMSGSW2 = 0: Fixing Assembly Motor current value + Fixing Belt Unit rotation time
FXMSGSW2 = 1: Items above + Total number of sheets fed on Fixing Belt Unit

Factor at warning occurrence is identified in accordance with CODE column of log displayed in COPIER> DISPLAY> ALARM-2.
06-0004: Current value of the Fixing Assembly Motor (FXMTR2 to 8)
    • No log: Rotation time of the Fixing Belt Unit (FX-U-TM1)
06-0002: Total number of sheets fed on Fixing Belt Unit (FXBLT- U)

    Display/adj/set range = 0 to 1

    0: OFF, 1: ON
    Default value 1

    Related service mode:

    COPIER> OPTION> DSPLY-SW> FXMSGSW2
    COPIER> DISPLAY> ALARM-2
    COPIER> DISPLAY> FIXING>FX-MTR2 to 8, FX-U-TM1
    COPIER> COUNTER> DRBL-1> FX-BLT-U
