    iR-3300 background

    Hello everywon

getting dark background on prints (looks like overtoning, but this is a monocomponent machine) & super solid yet crisp & sharp blacks, tried adjusting density (DE-DC & DE-OFST) in service mode but no matter which combination of voltages i used, the only way i could get rid of the background resulted in the image becoming very faint. DENS-ADJ didn't seem to make any difference at all

as far as i know the machine has OEM drum & toner & all the settings were as per the front door sheet

the machine has done 846k prints so i have no idea how old the drum is and i suspect replacing the drum may resolve the issue, however surely i should be able to get rid of the background and keep the nice solid blacks?

maybe i should play around with primary charge adjustments?

anyone got any tips please & thank you

    I suspect your right.
Replace the drum. Why take a machine out of specs for a supply item?

At that count i'd also suspect the dev unit, the spacers wear down resulting in the dv roller becoming slightly closer to the drum.

Usually when the drum wears you get thin black lines on the prints. (assuming you machine has a genuine Canon drum unit fitted)

I'd start with a genuine Canon drum and toner.

aAndy, do you know that this machine is 16 years old? Are there any parts available?

Sic the salesmen on them. When they trade it in you can dig a hole in the yard and bury it. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

client wants it fixed, i fix it - it got a new fuser pressure roller, a new drum unit sorted out the background & a couple hours cleaning the thing

one of these days i wanna push an old clunker off a 4 storey building with cameras everywhere to video it

I noticed one of your other posts.... you ended the title in the word " Print " when you do that it prevents us from replying to that post.... it was in reference to a Canon Inkjet Printer not putting print on the page.. you might want to go back and see if you can edit the title for the post.
