Good Afternoon,
I have a customer that has a dark image on the copies on a Canon IR2525.
I replaced the drum but the images were still there...seems like on the developing cylinder.
Can I clean that? and how would you so as not to damage the developing unit?
How would I do that?

Is it safe to guess that this Canon is monocomponent? If yes, what about mottling?
Common on monocomponent developing, sometimes the toner clumps on the developing roller, especially during times of high humidity. Traditionally you would dry-wipe the developing cylinder with toner left in the unit. The toner just pushes out of the way. Keep wiping, rotating, wiping, rotating ... until you get all the way around.
Aftermarket toner has a much worse problem with mottling. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Mono component Canon....I clean dev cylinders all the time. It was mandatory on NPs....just wipe them with clean dry cloth. If toner is baked to cylinder, scrape it loose with fingernail then wipe with dry cloth. Been doing this to Canon mono dev cylinders forever...older NPs I would wipe away toner coating and clean cylinder with Soft Scrub(except ones with black coating)
I would guess this poster is not using genuine toner, hence an issue with copy quality & the dev unit.

hi..normally with a generic toner the dev unit will cause a light image..then u would empty toner clean dev roller with a clean cloth and either add toner or put a new toner in and add.i have have the charge roller in the drum cause black marks.dark image what becomes lighter during the day.not sure if the problem is the same .try pls put a att image of fault..thank you
change the toner and see that one too. I hard the same problem
