Advance C5030 with groaning sound in standby.

I have a C5030 with a groaning/moaning sound when copier is in standby mode and can't find what cycles on and off on the general timing chart. I did some motor checks and can't reproduce the sound. I can feel the vibrations on the right door and front right toner cover. Does the fuser rotate at all during standby for some reason?

Only thing I know of that runs in standby at times is toner replenish. If two or more colors are replenishing at the same time it does sound like what your talking about.

The fuser will continue rotate after a run, the grease drys out over time in the fixing film unit & can make sound awful noises, if it gets too dry will also cause jamming & throw error codes.

Fit a new fixing film ass'y & pressure roller/bearings as necessary.

hi..fixing film rotates just before going to standby.yes if grease is dry mc makes 1 heck of a noise and vibration happens.also the pressure roller can cause it.surface becomes dry or bearings dry.to be safe re grease fixing film remove pressure and clean around bearings and roller and put back.who will need to check pressure rollers surface urself.looks dry..

I put in a used fuser today and the noise is gone. Are you sure the fuser does not make a low speed rotation in standby mode similar to the IR 5050 etc?

I agree with the fixing film. Have had three make noises and were not there when I came to machine. One had a E075 code and the call said horrible noise. Heard no noise and got a call back next day and it was extremely noisy when I went back. I don't try and grease them. They are worn when I replace them. The gear assembly to fuser can be noisy but not sure about just sitting there.

Sounds like fuser. Replace bearings in pressure roller as they seize up. XG9-0172-000 x2

Fixing film grease dries out. Replace the fixing film assembly. The manual actually shows you how to spread the grease in Troubleshooting chapter

Usually always the film that causes the noise - but make sure you take a look at the tech pubs related to noise or E009 codes. They will want you to remove any grease from the fixing drive gears and cam on the actually fixing assembly.

Check your fixing drive on the machine end when you take out the fuser - usually the gears will start stripping when this gets noisy or throws a code. Leave it too long and you will likely get E014 or something similar.
