Question Canon IRA C5235i Slow Prints / Copies

    Hi All,

I have a Canon IRA C5235i that has an issue when printing, its seems to take a long time spooling, though when you check the status on the pc, it has spooled completely and printed successfully.

When you look at the status monitor on the Copier its says, printing...and eta 1-2mins, this however will actually take more like 8-10 mins, it is painfully slow.

The strange thing with all this is that this only happens with double sided prints / copies.

I have done everything i could think of, cleared main controller, dc controller, mmi, also i ran the Controller System Error Diagnosis, with no issues reported (see pic below).

I think i am at a point where i need to replace the main controller, Main Controller 2 to be specific. Unfortunately i don't have one to test with so i'm basically looking to see if anyone has had a similar issue and has maybe resolve it, by replacing the main controller or otherwise.

Any suggestions / recommendations will be very welcome as always,

    Thanks.....,
    SAZ911..........

Just a suggestion, but try disconnecting the Ethernet cable, reboot the device and see if the slowness goes away. We had some issues with an office running "Power over Ethernet" on their network, and Canons don't play well with P.O.E.

If your speed returns, reconnect the Ethernet cable and see if the problem comes back. If it does, you have a couple of options. Either disconnect the P.O.E. from that Ethernet port, or build a custom Cat-5 cable with only the data lines connected. (Don't connect pins 4, 5, 7 and 8.)

    Good Luck

    Hi,

Thanks for the suggestion, though the device is on my network at my office (No POE) and it also prints slow when used as a standalone copier with no LAN connected...

    Thanks anyway,

    * i have videos i can share if anyone is interested....

Check the temperature of the heater during duplex printing. It must not fall below 180 C.
If you have checked the print settings, (paper tipe etc...)
One of the printer driver pcb can be bad..
    Practice makes perfect
If it ain't broke, don't fix it

No problem. Check also in print settings (settings/Registration) for some settings like: speed or quality priority.

    Hi Zoraldinho,

Checked Settings ? Registration for a settings that may be slowing it down, but i have found nothing as i did a MMI clear which reset everything to default.

Also checked the fuser and it doesn't seem to cool down, seems to run perfectly between 175 °c and 180 °c (compared to another model).

Strange thing is it is temperamental, starts off at normal speed then slows down... see link below for video of whats happening...

....Main Controller time i guess....Main controller II..?

    thanks.......

That is very slow down! You are probably right about controller.

First try to reconnect all connectors on pcb1 and 2 and dimms.

    hi

if its slow without network cable plugged in and copies aswell.then it might be the HDD.try do a firmware over ride all update.
if that doesn't work you might need to do a format then update.

if you have the same mc in the same place u can take hdd from other mc to test to see if copies are faster
