    E027-0400 AdvC5035

Customer has AdvC5035, got E027-0400 code, tech replaced coupling off back of developer unit to the new style with pin. Next day customer got code again, they turned it off/on, code cleared and hasn't come back (only been 2 days). But to be proactive, what would be the next step if it comes back? Copier only has 131k on it.

I have had to clean drum encoders in back and had a drum blade flip only once. Replaced drum for blade flip.

    Hi!

No offense. I'm just curious. How many machines are you fix it right now on CTN?
    Practice makes perfect
If it ain't broke, don't fix it
A picture is worth a thousand words
If you want something done right, you have to do it yourself

Ok, customer is still getting the code, replaced coupling on developer unit 10/17, code came back 10/18, turned off/on and it worked fine until 11/10, now they have been getting code about 3-4 times a day for the past few days. We replaced the coupling and cap on the machine side as well as the developer motor, still getting code........any suggestions? Should I replace the drum driver PCB next or go ahead and replace the entire Main Drive Unit?

    Error :

An error code of E027-0400 is occurring at power on.

    Workaround :

In this case, the black toner bottle was not seated correctly in position resulting in the error code. Removing the black toner bottle and manually opening and closing the end cap along with reseating the bottle resolved the code.
Accidents don't just happen. They must be carelessly planned.

I was hoping it was something simple like that, we actually put a brand new OEM toner in to eliminate that possibility.....still getting code.

Hi, I've been away for a while however the fix for E027-0X00 (providing dev couplings etc are ok) is to remove the Hopper seals on not only the offending colour but the other 3 also, as they in turn will error E027-0X00.
The ADV5051 series are getting old, and as a result so too are the seals & with the pulling out/in of the Process Unit to clean/replace Drum units, the Hopper seals for the Developer Units lose their grip & over a period of time slide forward each time the Process Drawer is drawn forward until the Seal actually blocks/covers the Toner dispensing hole, which in turn deprives the Developer Unit of Toner resulting in the Error.

Remove the Process Unit, ITB Assembly & Fusing Unit (for easy access) with a good torch you will see the Seal of the offending Hopper hanging down & with a small pair of pliers grip the seal & with a backwards/forwards movement of the Toner dispensing Tube slowly (without breaking the Seal) pull the Seal towards the front of the machine - believe it or not, the Hopper does not leak excess toner & no other adjustment/settings need to be made, vacout the machine, clean Patch Detect Sensor assy & perform full Autograd.

Cost - about half an hour.

    Cliff.

Thank you so much!!! That is exactly what the problem was, much appreciation.
