Wondering if there's any tips/tricks in the tech world to help cut down consumption of ink during start up and/or maintenance.
Was replacing a print head day before yesterday and following onscreen instructions. First it drains all the ink in the head and the lines back to the maint. cartridge (why exactly?) and then refills after the new one is installed. The maint. cartridge was at 40% before I started, and filled to capacity by the time it was done. Drained a 1/3 of all inks to refill and had errors after that.

Are these units just ink hogs no matter what or is there steps I can take to limit the amount of damage done. Also is there any kind of reset or override I can do to the maint. cartridge so I can continue to troubleshoot my errors? Almost a full round of inks gone now and on the 2nd maint. cartridge.

Any help appreciated
