    Angry Re: Changing Value Counter

So your looking for someone to participate in delevopling a tool to cheat someone out of their money ?

Someone is going to use it for not paying for their prints, or for selling a Copyer that has a lot more milage then the counter suggests.

I don't know what bothers me more... I DO know that some day a tech is gonna scratch his head at these machines why they fail on a sertain part where it should not yet do so, considering the usage on the counter.

Just for that, someone should smack you with a wrench....

Since when did 'getting away with it' mean is legal or ok ?

You KNOW what the counter is used for, you KNOW it saves money if you lower it. There is NO OTHER reason to lower it.

Walk over to a buyer of a machine you lowered the counter from, tell him he payed to much because the counter was lowered by you. See if you can walk away without a black eye...
Tell a company they lost money because a couple of thousand prints where never billed due to a lowered counter, see if you get sued or not...

there is no law about this, why jail?
There is now law about this ? In my book this is fraude and tampering with counters. The same as turning back the milage on your car before selling. The principal is the same..

    Read this :

    Odometer fraud - Wikipedia

Odometer fraud, also referred to as "busting miles" (United States) or "clocking" (UK and Ireland), is the illegal practice of rolling back odometers to make it appear that vehicles have lower mileage than they actually do. Odometer fraud occurs when the seller of a vehicle falsely represents the actual mileage of a vehicle to the buyer.[1]
According to the Office of Odometer Fraud Investigation at the US Department of Transportation,[2] odometer fraud is a serious crime and important consumer fraud issue.
    And this :
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tampering_(crime)

The crime is often linked with attempts to extort money from the manufacturer, and in many cases no contamination to a product ever takes place. Fraud is sometimes handled as a matter of civil law, but actual modification of products is almost always a matter of criminal law.
This is my last reply, if you don't (want to) understand, I can't fix stupidity...

    Guys guys...

If you look closely - this guy just photoshop-ed the new numbers.

He is not capable of changing the counters

He is not a fraud. He is a fisherman looking for idiots

Probably some 16 year kid trying to show off....

    Re: Changing Value Counter

isnt the counter PCB tied to the serial of the device??

My boss swapped a main PCB on a 6065 once without moving the smaller pcbs - counter went back to 0 - not sure how that worked without getting tons of errors, but anyway. Machine only had about 10k on it so wasn't such a big deal.

I think the serial of the device changed though if I am correct.
