    DR 7550 image scanner blurry

I have several of these HI speed Image scanners that have the same problem, they are stretching the image about one inch down from the lead edge. This is an intermittent problem that seems to get worse with use. Can anyone out there provide support for this issue, any help would be appreciated.

    worth a shot

    Product :
    DR Scanner 6050C / 6080 / 7550C / 7580 / 9050C / 9080C
    Title :
Stretched lead edge image on simplex and duplex

    Problem :

Stretched lead edge image on simplex and duplex.

    Solution :

In several cases the stretched image at the lead edge was caused by worn registration and reading rollers in the lower unit. Replacing these rollers resolved the issue.

    Lower Registration Roller MF1-4596-000

yup most time scanner stretching is due to rollers being smooth

Push down on the upper half while scanning and see if it helps. The diameter of the rolls gets too small and they slip or the speed is too slow. If just slipping, I lower the latch pins on the lower base about 2 mm so when it closes it latches more firm. How many scans on unit? Usually starts to happen around 2 million...

Re: DR 7550 image scanner blurry

    I’ve never worked on scanners.

I have, however (in my past life), serviced about a million fax machines, as that was all I did for about 7 years straight. All Canon back in those days. The technology is very similar in this area between the two.

Seeing this exact issue was litterally a daily event, with the pages being elongated in the feed direction.

Sometimes it was barely noticeable. If the wear was severe enough it would cause a letter size to become legal. If it was really bad, a second letter size page would be generated.

I have also tried this mod with sucess, it eliminated stretching and also made the unit quieter.
