on new installation message appear on display (Download.....Standby)&there is nothing response

i've had that before when someone pulled something out of the machine, like a scan board or print board and did not turn off that function, also i've had it when the board was just not plugged in all the way....one of them may have loosened in moving it. check all your boards and their connnections.

There is something wrong with this copier, but it seems like it needs an update of his system software. I got an iR2016 (not ir2016j but 2016, I think there are the same) which had the same problem, using Canon Service Support Tool I fixed it by uploading a new version of system software. After that, everything had been ok.

I've heard you can get for free the SST (Service Support Tool) and the new System Software for iR2016j from Canon. The SST is a bit difficult to use, but there is a manual to help people understand it quickly.

If you are a technician from Canon or a Dealer, you can get for free all you need to make your copier running again.

When the machine first boots up, it goes right into Download mode.

Solution :
This will happen when the machine does not read the boot ROM properly, or the Boot ROM is blank. In either case, the resolution is simple and guaranteed.

If this should happen while you boot the machine, connect your laptop and use service support tool version 3.22e to flash the BOOT ROM of this device with at least version 60.02. Once this is done, the machine will completely boot.
