Canon IR Advance 4035 with E0505-001 error when G1 Staple finisher is plugged in

I am currently working on a Canon IR Adv. 4035 that codes out when the G1 staple finisher is plugged into it E0505-0001.

I don't see much on this error in the service manual. I tried to clear the code by going into service mode function, error, clear reboot mfp but same error E0505-001, I went into connection test in service mode in options and get NG. MFP runs great without the G1 finisher.

I have ordered the main control board (FM4-8284-000) for the G1 finisher, in hopes that this is where the issue is. Any ideas to resolve this issue?

Try flashing it via usb in download mode with the finisher attached, may be simply firmware.

Thanks, but, unfortunately, we do not have access to Canon Firmware.

If the machine is networked...and you can get into Service Mode, you can download the firmware right from the machine.

May need to re initiliaze the Finisher,
It's a dip switch procedure, look in manual.

Print out a P Print before doing.
    Re input Finisher settings

Also, adjustments for staple position and alignment must be performed to re_avoid an E505 code at power on.

It is networked, so I will try the update procedure in service mode.

I was wondering about dip switch settings, as these finishers are similar to Sharp finishers. I will look for dip switch procedure in the service manual. What is a P Print? Is it a print out of the current settings?

I appreciate it; if it not obvious, I don't work on too many Canons, so every little bit helps.

Thank you for the help. I installed a new finisher main control pcb and that wound up fixing the issue. However, I did try to update the firmware and try some dip switch settings before installing the new board but to no avail. I have to admit, guitar 9199, that is one of the easier firmware updates, I have done, thank you. I was a little reluctant to update it, at first, but appreciate the help.
