Canon Pixma MX 870 error 6A80 ??

Hi guys, i have a customer with this error. print scanner seems to move freely and cycle. no paper found anywhere. the google search had some suggestions to power off, then hold stop, black copy, ok and on/off buttons for ten seconds then release the on/off, while holding the others till it powered up.
i tried it several times like a fool, in hopes of getting it to work.

does anyone happen to remember what could be the cause of thins issue??

i am assuming the ASF unit is the rear paper feed tray? and the APP motor is the ? cleaning station/purge unit motor, or ?? print scan motor?
