IR2800 finisher J1 and Lifter problem

    Hello

this is my first problem and i seek help here.

I do maintenance on several copiers from several medical facilities. One of them, a Canon IR 2800 has a Finisher J1 and a Lifter problem. They both stopped working. When i power on the machine the finished doesn´t move and the lifters from the drawers doesn´t move either. Could it be a motor that operate the 2 parts just died? But should it not give an error?

Can anyone help ou give an hint?

    thank you all.

Those are 2 separate devices so it won't be a single motor. Sounds power or controller related to me. Is there any messages on the screen, load paper or otherwise? Is there any errors or alarms in service mode history? Does the machine do it's initial rotation?

Hello. The only message on screen is load paper because the lifter doesn´t work and it cannot detect paper. It shows no errors or alarms. The machine does the usual sounds when starting, beside the finisher that does not move.

    Hello

It is not the saddler finisher that goes to the left of printer. It´s the finisher J1 that goes above the delivery tray. You can see it at page 19 of service manual.

    OK , sorry about that

Does printer see connected Finisher on control panel ?

Check and verify that the finisher is supplied with the correct voltages.
The host machine sends two 24VDC to the Finisher Controller PCB, one of them is used to drive motors while the other is used to generate 5VDC for sensors.
Check the voltages at connector J1 pin 6 and connector J2 pin 2 for the 24 volts supply to the Finisher Controller.

u mean the Cassette Feeding Unit-W1 is Not Recognized by the Copier

    or

The Paper Cassettes Are Not Lifting

The paper Cassettes are not lifting. Both tray 1 and 2 have the same problem.
It is also noticed that the Main Motor M1 is not turning.
M1 drives the Cassette lifter up. There may also be an error code of E020.

Check the on signal for the Main Motor from the DC controller @ J308, Pin 9. If the signal is present, try to turn the motor on in Part Check.
COPIER>FUNCTION>PART-CHK>MTR-ON code 1 for M1. If the Main Motor does not turn on replace M1.

The part number for M1 is FH6-1846-000.
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Preventing upper lifter ratchet gear failure and faults in the paper pick-up mount assembly.

If the paper cassettes are loaded with paper, the lifter plate ( #2) may push down and snap a tooth off of the Ratchet gear (#3).
When you move the machine be sure to empty the paper from the cassettes.

I´m also inclined to motor M1 because both the lifters do not operate. I´ll try and test M1. Could also be the same problem for the finisher. I´ll try and test it tomorrow and reply back.

    many thanks for your help.

Post Re: IR2800 finisher J1 and Lifter problem

    Hello
    teckat

I´ve just tested the machine and here´s the results:

    M1 , M2 and M9 all ok;
    SL1 and SL5 all ok;

Then i´ve removed the entire Pickup Assembly and found out a snaped spring (piece 54 below).

    Sem Título.jpg

I´ve replaced the spring but it´s not working.

I´ve assembled the pickup assembly again, inserted trays and by hand i´ve pulled the lifter up from both trays and they worked ok.

It seems that when the tray is inserted i hear and see the chain nr. 69 from the assembly rotating but does not operate the lifters.

could it be the pickup PCB or coud it be a gear inside the pickup assembly that went bad? what do you think?

    regards
