    H1 has three connections:
Crossover Cable from Printer to H1 box
Ethernet Cable from H1 box to Wall Network Connection
Interface Cable from H1 box to Printer.

    Re: Reviving Canon IR c5180

had some good results today. i got rid of the heavy smudging in the prints and i got the paperdesk up and feeding paper reliably. i tried the registration settings and couldnt figure out how to print the grid page.

i did try switching the interface to 0 but the copier would not pull dhcp or respond to ping on a static address. i think im missing the functionality for that.

reset the interface for the fiery and still cannot connect. did a sector check on the harddrive and it passed with no issues. and the drives smart also passed. but still will not open in the menu.

did u download and read the H1 service guide link above

Test Prints=Go into service mode level 1
    under
    COPIER>TEST>PG>TYPE
Performs test print when test print type number is entered and start key is turned ON. (This setting must always be
restored to 0 after making test print.)

under Type=enter #6 for Grid Pattern print out.

    Entered number - Description
0 -Image from CCD (normal print)
    1 -For development
    2 -For development
    3 -For development
    4 -16 gradations
    5 -Full-sheet half tones
    6 -Grid
    7 -For development
    8 -For development
    9 -For development
    10 -MCYBk horizontal stripes
    11 -For development
    12 -YMCBk 64 gradations
    13 -For development
    14 -Full-color 16 gradations
    15 to 100 For development

#6-#5 and #10 are the basic checks

DENS-Y/M/C/K= Used to adjust density of each color for test prints (TYPE = 5).
    Setting values
0 to 255: Increasing the value increases the density.
    [Factory default/After RAM clear: 128]

COLOR-Y/M/C/K Used to set output of each color for each TYPE.
For example, to set single-color M output, set "COLOR-M = 1", and make the other settings 0 (only single colors can be output).
    Setting values
    0: Don't output
    1: Output
    [Factory default/After RAM clear: 1]

    Re: Reviving Canon IR c5180

i did read the manual but unless i missed something it didn't really show anything to troubleshoot it. i did plug a monitor into it and it booted to decompressing kernel. and from prior fiery experience it switched to the copier video output. and the diag display goes to 00.

i tried setting the pg type to 6 and then clicked ok. i figured after that i would hit the start button? and that caused it to make a normal copy from the glass. i did get it to print out a copy of all of its current settings but that was from a different menu.

after reading the registration guide the black laser lens is always set to the mid point. and is never adjusted could it have got shifted during transportation? the overall print is off the top of the page also.
