Canon Advance 6055 broken bushing

Hi, this machine has broken two sets of bushing and retainer in the last 3 months, originally we just replaced the heating roller and put brand new sets of bushings and retainers and now this is the socond time it has broken the set on the inner side (the one where the connector is), both bushing and retainer just completely break and it throws an error, first time it worked fine for a few weeks then they broke, second time lasted for about 8 weeks and here it is again.

I dont particularly notice anything strange on the fuser unit, specially on that side of the assy, but there has tp be something since its not a coincidence it has happen twice in thelast months.

Any suggestions welcome.

Yes its a 3rd aprty replacement, however, the very first time we serviced this machine we put OEM bushing and retainers, then after it broke the first time, i decided to use this 3rd party one because i thought it would give more resistance since it has a screw to keep it in place, this time im using OEM replacement again but im worried it will break again on that same side, i dont see anything strange, i dont hear any strange noise hinting at a possible friction that could be causing them to break only on that side...

If the bearings are all turning freely, I'd check that the fuser is not overheating. Are there any other indications of overheating, like blunted fuser claws, warped plastic guides and covers? If yes, I'd probably replace the thermistors. Are there any flat spots on the pressure roller, causing that wump ... wump ... wump sound? That's going to prematurely wear the bushings. =^..^=

The retainer in the picture looks like the latest modification but that screw is wrong it is too long. It might be hitting something. Canon modified that roller set before i retire 2 years ago. It solved our bushing problems. It comes with roller , bushings, a screw-on retainer , and one spring retainer.
Those things never work with a partial rebuild. The part number starts with FM3 or FM2

The part number I have for the 'fixing roller kit' on the newer 65xx is FMO-3465-030.

I'm guessing the kit is backwards compatible with the 60xx, 62xx range since the main part number remains unchanged and it's just a minor revision.



The genuine Canon clamp holder looks far more chunky in comparison to the third-party one pictured in the first post.

IF you do not have the 2-piece holder clamp modification.

• Be sure to fit the metal spacer between the bushing and the holding clip! (I have previously serviced fixing units where this was missing).

I think this pic is from a 82xx, as the fixing roller coating is red.

• Be sure to apply a thin even layer of high temp grease to the inner and outer surface of the plastic bushings.
  (New bushings should come with the grease pre-applied, as pictured by LTTP above).

One other thing you can test is the nip band via the MP (bypass) tray to make sure you have even pressure across the fixing rollers front-to-rear.
It is factory adjusted, so it should be perfect unless someone has been playing around with something they shouldn't of.

1. Run off 20 or so test copies first.
2. Set a sheet of A4 in the MP tray (long edge feed).
3. COPIER > FUNCTION > FIXING > NIP-CHK

Yes that is it FM0-3465
It does not matter whether the roller is red or green, They change it whenever they feel like it

Aftermarket junk. Put in the FM0-3465..newest has clamps with pre-greased collars. There is a reason why Canon modified them...

Thanks for your suggestions guys, Cipher nailed it, this one was serviced before and it was missing the metal spacer between the retainer clip and the bushing, put a brand new one and its been working fine for 2 days so far.

Lets hope this was the culprit.
