I was told that win 10 is turning off smb1 for security reasons and thats why the scan to folder option has stopped working after a win upgrade

However in short you can turn SMB v1 back on in Windows programs & features.
However i’ve not come accross this issue with windows update, its usually done by customers IT disabling SMB v1

SMBv1 is not installed by default in Windows 10 Fall Creators Update and Windows Server, version 1709 and later versions :
