No.
You can uninstall it , no problems with firmware.

Hi, I also have this issue. My C5240 has a Fiery / Imagepass B2 on the back that does not work well with the Macs in my office. I want to remove the imagepass, but don't know how. I've tried disconnecting it's cables and plugging ethernet directly into the C5240, but there are not any IPv4 settings even listed under the Network preferences.
Do I need some sort of software or firmware reset to run it without the imagepass? Or is my C5240 actually lacking hardware?
Any help appreciated!!
Once you remove the fiery you need to change a service mode setting to tell you machine the fiery is removed, this will enable the onboard print controller etc.
Have a read in the service manual but from memory COPIER>OPTION>INTFACE> IMG-CONT (then reboot)
You will see the network setting tab & you can install the standard PCL 6 driver etc.
