1) is this a PRINT or a COPY?
2) do you notice these voids in Magenta in other prints?
3) what have you done to it so far?
4) do you have a toner vac?
5) have you cleaned the laser lens?
6) what is the life count of the consumables?
7) when was it serviced last by a TRAINED Canon Tech?
you ask for help but leave a lot of things out!
Test magenta quality on itb. If it's ok then you have a transfer problem. In case it is also on itb bad replace the developer.
Like Phil say check life counter of consumables.
Practice makes perfect
If it ain't broke, don't fix it
A picture is worth a thousand words
If you want something done right, you have to do it yourself
If you pull the magenta developer out and see those voids on the mag roller then problem is in developer. That is one developer you can take the dr. blade out but only remove screws on top not on blade itself. You may be able to get rid of chunks of toner but most likely will need new magenta developer. If you have bad chunky toner then you will have to clean hopper which is a several hour job. If you put in developer with bad toner then it will come back. You can run a mode spitex but may not fix it. If no voids then most likely on laser glass.
I agree with it being toner clumps in the Magenta developing assembly. As far as I know, there is not starter available to do a developer change like you could on the old CLC's.
You need to get the clumps/debris out from the doctor blade and hope you don't have a bad tube of toner. If the toner is bad, you need to replace the developing assembly, remove and vac out the hopper and put good toner in. Very time consuming and expensive.
Take the magenta dev out and take a small folded piece of paper and insert it under the doctor blade. Turn the dev in the proper direction and wiggle the paper slowly and withdraw it. If the voids are gone reinstall the dev and run service mode 2>function>miscp>devspit. This mode is a real help for lower volume accounts as it cycles the dev and have had luck doing the above procedures. It has saved a few dev orders.
