    Exclamation IR1730i - smearing toner

    Hi all,

    Has anyone had this problem?
The machine pretty much had a full service kit installed, drum, developer, transfer roller, and static eliminator. Still doing the same thing.
The machine was being used while the toner was empty, for some time, could that have affected the developer?

I've tested different paper as well but no luck.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Hi,

Fuser was recently replaced but the issue is there before fuser.
I’ve printed something and stopped the machine, it looks like a transfer issue but not sure exactly where the problem is…
It looks similar on the drum as what it does on the printout. Could it be laser??

I'm not sure where is the problem exactly. Loose lines?

That may not have been a good example: see the attached

Have you tried replacing the whole transfer feed assembly (FM4-6520-000)? Another easy something to try, on the static eliminator/guide. Wrap a bit of electrical tape over the far side contact and reinstall. Does the problem go away?

I've replaced the whole transfer assembly with a known working one but still no joy.

Really tearing my hair out trying to discover what's wrong with this machine!

    Hi Idharnden,

I have tried replacing the whole transfer assembly. I also did try the electrical tape on the static eliminator but didn't change anything unfortuntely
