IPF 6400 unused for 1.5 years: not working after heads replacement

    Hi,

I bought a 2nd hand IPF6400. Lasdt print dates back to may 2017.

The printer only printed 52 square meters. I replaced the two print-heads as they obviously fried but the printer still claims there's a problem with the heads:

    ERROR

Attached you will find the output of Display PRINT.INF from the L TOOL.

Can anyone help me fixing this?

    Thanks!

    Hi,

Pull out purge unit and clean it well. Use syringe and clean all ink pipes.Make sure the fluid flows smoothly from purge unit to printheads.

Maybe you bought a faulty printer.

Hi and thanks for your reply. What makes you think the problem lies within the purge unit?

Once it is done, how can I make sure the liquid flows smoothly?

Yes, maybe I bought a faulty printer but I doubt it consider the age, surface printed, ink used.

I know about 7 years ago Canon charged a flat rate to repair these on site of around $750. No matter how complex or simple the job was. Since you own the machine you are able to call Canon Support for free too. You should give them a chance with this one. I would have been looking at a whole new ink system and ink after sitting that long. Some HP systems 10 years ago were closer to 6 months - a year with the whole kit including INK- tubes and heads. This happens by design, its a use it or lose it system.

Thanks, I'll give it a try and see if there's something available here in Europe.

I understand that inkjet technology can imply that kind of issues; what I am suprised, and disturbed with, is the fact that it seems impossible for the advanced end-user to do an analytical troubleshooting of the problem because the error codes are most of the times completely unrelated with the cause of the issue (I have 2x 6300S with a multisensor error but the multi-sensor doesn't seem to be the cause).

@zoraldinho any update about your idea?

Tried but they don't offer anything: no warranty exchange, no repair in whatever form (flat-rate or not).

so now I'm stuck in a situation in which Canon won't support, no one here is apparently able to help me troubleshooting... Any othe suggestion before I throw the printers+inks+printheads I bought to trash?

    Thx,

    Thanks for your answer!

How would that be related to the error code I receive?

    Kind regards.

You have no idea how many different errors can Canon plotter throw because the print head is clogged or poor.
Did you do what I suggested?

Oh, I have quite a clear idea: not as much as someone on the field but trust me: I've been reading *many* posts online on various forums... And that's exactly why, because I did trainings on analytical troubleshooting and because I spent quite a bunch of time and money on components, that I was willing to isolate the cause before proceeding further: I hope no one had the feeling that I was questioning the validity of the suggestions; my apologize if that was the case.

    documents I have:
    - IPF 6400 troubleshooting guide v4.0
    - IPF 6000 series service manual mar 7 2011 (which doesn't cover the IPF6400)

Any link to the service manual for the 6400? I tried both on google and here but couldn't find it... I assume the process won't be much different than the 6300 but better to know in advance rather than when it's too late

    thanks!
