After Firmware Update the Job Status/Monitor is Missing on C5045

    Howdy,

I updated the firmware on my/our C5045 printer, trying to get SMTP sending to work. After a few reboots and profanity shouted at the email provider, that is working..

My issue since rebooting has been that the Status/Monitor function is missing from the on-device display.

If I log in with the web-interface, I can see the status, but it is missing the Restart Job function that the on-device view offers.

Pressing the Status button, I can see the Consumables tab information, but the actual 'Tabs' are missing for Copy/Print, Send, Receive, and Store.

Yes, I have read the manual, searched the forum and the web. I read the manual again and again.

I am sure it is a 'check-box' somewhere, but I can't find it.

What did I do/change and how can I fix it?

    Thank you,

    Kevin

You might have to do an MMI clear to get it back.

    Thank you.

Is there anything I should be concerned about when doing 'MMI clear'?

The service manual mentions (Page 716 on the PDF),

    COPIER > FUNCTION > CLEAR
MMI Clear of user mode setting value
Lv.1 Details To clear the user mode setting values (excluding values for
Control Panel, common settings, and FAX).
    Common Settings
    Timer Settings
    Adjustment/Cleaning
    Report Settings
    System Settings
    Copy Settings
    Communications

Timer Settings and Adjustment jump out at me as being important.

    Is MMI a factory reset?

It is like resetting to factory specs, if anything in address book back it up first and make sure you have all the network settings to reinput after

Alright, so I did the MMI reset.

Service Menu, Copier, Function, Clear, paged over to page 3. Selected MMI, selected Ok, when the Ok button came back, I turned off the printer. Waited a few minutes and then turned it back on.

Some things definitely reset but not all. Incoming faxes are still forwarded to an email address, but the paper type was set back to default.

No change on the Job Status. Also showing a 'red wrench' and Finisher not available. at the bottom of the screen.

What should I be trying next?

    Thank you again,

    Kevin

If you haven't already go into the RUI and backup the Address books, One touch Buttons.
Suspect a bad flash. Run a continuous ping and check connections Ping 192.168.1.0 -t

Go into the additional functions and initialize all user data. That will wipe out all the user settings. Any fax forwarding will have to be set back up. The latest software adds the updated SMTP security options for the C5045. So far I have not had a machine have any issue and that includes Office 365. Sorry, I am a little/very confused now..

Unless one's subnet is a /23 or larger, that ping command will fail regardless.

    imgur for what?

If it says limited function mode, check for finisher error code and fix that.
Red wrench might mean you have a blown controller

    I would initialize all settings
Then run firmware upgrade again, possibly downgrading.

I dont think you have been given the best advice here, you've now added to a simple issue you had.

Press the additional function key this will tell you what the spanner error code is?

From the home screen top right corner press this, you can simply add/remove the missing screen icons from there.

I'm not missing screen icons, I'm missing the job statuses pages, to cancel or check on print/copy/fax jobs..

Otherwise, yes, my problems seem to have increased.
