I don't know what the error message is. I went to check the IP address the printer grabbed from DHCP since I couldn't find it on the network.. On the printer, all of the network stuff is greyed out.. Can't even set a static IP.. The 'User Data List (Network) printout has IPv4 On, showing 0.0.0.0 but I can not set an IP address. So.. No IP access (yet?). Hopefully I'm just missing something.
The error shows
A red wrench with 'Finisher can not be used.' as the error message.
Can I get the error number from the on-screen menu?
I updated it using the Service Menu with Updater.
Settings/Registration button
Pressed 2+8 together
Pressed Settings/Registration again
Updater
Update Firmware
Now has 20180821.086021
Alright... For an update.. I have it figured out with help from a friend on another forum..
The Job Status tabs,
Service mode level two
Copier – Test – Network - set BML-DISP to 0
The finisher error caused by the MMI reset..
Management settings > device management > limited function mode - turn off
Now I have to find all my license keys.. I have most but some are missing.. lol
This is why I always told my techs when I was a service manager that MMI clear was a "LAST RESORT"!
Canon's eSupport GRID could have saved you a bunch of time, and likely a few headaches.
...when it comes to updating firmware... don't "Guess"! If you don't know, ask! You can very easily take an expensive copier, and turn it into an expensive paperweight!
If I had access to it, it would have been great.. As it was I was already researching everything I could on it.
Otherwise I needed the firmware update for SMTP sending to work.. That fixed my issue immediately..
I am more annoyed that the MMI clear didn't fix the issue it was suggested to do it for.
Missing some license keys and one that simply doesn't work so $$&*#@*%^#, but otherwise I think it is working again.. Time to set everything up again. Argh
Side question.. Is it possible to get trial keys for Canon MEAP applications? Or is it full version or nothing? There is one I want to try but I don't know if it will actually work with my printer, before spending hundreds on something that won't. Already have to replace a couple...
Maybe a good time to upgrade to the 5200 series instead. You can use the fuser and all the consumables from your c5045. MMI clear in the past would wipe just user settings and esp. network settings. I have never heard of trial meap apps. For the price a Scan and Print at the same time function can be accomplished with a DR-c240 instead for a lot less money.
Try this: SM level 2
