    Canon MF8550Cdn color displacement correction

My multifunction laser printer (Canon MF8550Cdn) has developed a huge color displacement issue in the vertical axis, and performing "print color mismatch" unfortunately fails.

I assume that the color displacement correction sensor has broken, but before I investigate replacing this part, is there a way of manually setting displacement values for each color? It would be useful to be able to print something without a color line being off by several milimeters?

try a factory reset and/or NVRAM clear first, then perform colour calibration

I recently calibrated this machine for an hour without success until I installed the original cartridge.
