    Transfer belt error

I have an IRC5240A that every week or so throws an error for transfer belt wandering to the back of the unit. I am able to get it back to the center and clear the error. There are no visible flaws in the belt or buildup on the rollers. I don't see any reason for the wander, is this a common issue? I only have a few of these units in the field.

Yes..it's common. Check the Canon eSupport grid for any E075 countermeasures for that model. The fixes are as simple as making sure the machine is completely level, and go as complicated as replacing the entire ITB assembly with an updated one (At least on the Advance 5000 series anyway). That would be your best place to start.

Maybe one of the other CTN crew has a copy of the Tech Pub for the E075 fixes handy. Mine is on a portable hard drive sitting on my desk at home.... sorry.

This was a very common issue on the IRAC 5xxx series however now the new units have been modified rarely see this anymore.

If you dont want to order a complete ITB ass'y remove the belt from the unit & clean all stray toner them give the large rubber drive roller a good clean.

Reassemble then run ITB-INIT this will adjust the belt position. You're looking for a value as close to 0 as possible but anywhere from 360+- is OK.

The other answers are correct. There is a mod kit on the side that has metal posts instead of the plastic round idlers. If you have any C5xxx you will have that code. First I make sure the new style kit is in and grease if it is. Then I check inner transfer roller ends and replace roller if necessary, clean drive rollers. Center black round thingy. Then I check itb pos and make sure it is between 350 and -350 doing a itb initialize. If not, the motor you see on the front take off and adjust bracket with two painted screws, bracket up more negative, down more positive (a very small amount at a time). Closest to 0 best but needs to be between 350 and -350 although have seen it between those numbers and throw code. Make sure software is updated. Occasionally only putting in new or used entire itb unit fixes it. Used to have that code every week, now only occasionally although a lot of my customers upgraded. Very common.
