Well sounds like you have covered all the bases so far. Please keep us up to date on what is going on.I am pretty sure you have checked, but make sure the drum heater is on too.

    Yep..will do.
The drum heater was working...i checked when I swapped the drums over.
Something I DID notice though was that the contact brushes were worn(as is normal) but the baseplate for the heater was loose.
If the brushes had worn AND the baseplate was wobbling about then this could cause the brushes to loose contact periodically and the drum heater may not have been functioning correctly.
I fitted a new set of brushes and nipped up the baseplate.

    Another update...
I had one of the other machines go down with a drum line that i again..could not get rid of.
The AP KIT was only replaced in mid December.
It had a drum line early last week and I polished the drum and fitted a new blade....the line disappeared.
By Wednesday of this week it had returned with a vengeance and no amount of polishing or blades was going to budge it.
I even got the tech who I replaced as onsite tech for the University back onsite to check it out and even HE couldn't rid the lines.
Bear in mind that all 5 machines have done 15million copies each without a major rebuild.
I spent a whole day on this machine getting nowhere....and then.....
I had a second hand drum in the workshop that was in unknown condition.
I found out that it was pretty much ok...no drum strikes....so for the purpose of testing I fitted this drum to the AP KIT...new reciprocating arm...new brushes...new blade...and BINGO...lines are gone.
The drum that came out had only done 2.8million and looks ok.
I'm going to try it in another machine if/when they go down with the line issue again.
It seems that rotating drums as necessary might be the way to beat this issue.

Oh been here before...first adjust pre-transfer voltage...increase it in service mode....if you go too high you will get background. If no success(probably not) remove cleaner blade assembly. You will see a silver bias roller with a plastic mylar scoop up sheet in cleaner assembly. Clean the roll with alcohol and make sure contact is clean. Replace the scoop up sheet....i have two of them that like to run with no scoop up sheet. Make sure ends of large magnetic roll(with waste on it) are clean(scrapers on ends)....remove lint and paper fibers. I know someone that installed NP6050 cleaner blade to resolve. This is a common problem with 105's. As previously stated check cleaner drives first. Also make sure pre-exposure lamp is clean and doesn't have weak segments. Usuallly with bad drum heater you get copy quality problems usually when machine is first turned on and used...after a while fuser heat warms up drum. There is a DC EPROM upgrade for this but it only affects when copier is run in a specific range of relative humidity.Otherwise it has no affect..try silver roll and scoop up sheet fix....lemme know how you made out

Sounds like a ghost is living in the machines. Must be one of those anomalies. I too am curious to see how it works out.
