IR 1600
Hi I have a ir 1600 that is saying close printer cover and is due to the sensor connected to the flap on the left at the turnaround between the csste and m/c but where is the sensor and what type of sensor is it

the dors form the pick up rolers, can make you this problems. Try to close them fermly or try to push the dors a lytle bit and see if anithing changes. If you need the service manual just leave a email adres.

front door when pushed in - gets connected with the spring held rod - the rod is connected at the back to a switch - the switch sends signal - y/n.
check if door is properly locked. manually put paper pack & see.
check the switch

Thanks for the manual I'll have a look in that on the m/ci've had a look and cant see anything that actuates a switch so I'm thinking maybe its a magnetic reed switch or something just thought they weren't used these days

The sensor for the lower l/h door is an photointerupter sensor which is actuated by the paper guide plate. It is PS 152 in parts manual located on the paper pick-up assy.

Thanks for that I'll check it out on wednesday but wouldn't that give you paper jam not printer cover open?

No not really because that sensor is purely for the cover open not paper jam.
