    The iRC3100n should have a "n" bootrom....BUT you can just use SST to flash to an "n" boot.
    Unlike 2200's the 3100 has(from memory)a "J" rom which can be overwritten.

    I believe the sensor here that is causing the grief is actually the ATR Sensor, mounted to the left of the developer rotary. I have seen this one cause "morning sickness" as described here. This copier even when running correctly mists all around the rotary. That is why Canon suggests that on every service call the area should be cleaned up.

    P-SENS-P should be cleaned every 30,000 images. 1 image per black copy, 4 images per colour - doubled for A3

    i handled many cases like this . just replace drum unit and ITB belt cleaning blade .
    sometime you need to uprade DC-CON to 17.01.
