    ir 6870u Issues

    Hello All,

We are having two problems with a 6870u.

The first is a horizontal line that occurs across the output whether printed from the network or photocopied at the machine. I don't think its optic and plan on replacing the cleaning blade on the drum, but wanted to check first. Unit has 200K copies.

The second problem is with the finisher. We had a jam in the R1 finisher. We removed the jam and after clearing out the finisher, receive an error when powering up. It states, finisher can not be used. The error log shows a 713 004.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks in advance.

For the finisher message go into additional functions common settings. Last page turn limited functions mode to OFF and cycle power.

need more info on line>>> lead to trail or front to back?
All colors or just black or specific color?
How wide and what color is the line?

Thanks for the responses. Fixed the problem with the finisher. Turned out to be a bad connector. Thanks for the assistance.

With respect to the horizontal line, it occurs on all copiers in about the same location and on two sided prints also. It is black and about halfway through the sheet. Very thin but very consistent. Does not matter if it is a copy job, print job or fax, line is still there.

Thanks in advance for the advice.

The very thin black may be your drum, if its very fine its probably the drum or the cleaning blade needs replacement. If its kind of a foggy like image flaut then its probably your image formation area, ITB or cleaning assembly.
