Getting an IP automatically via DHCP ensures you get a known good IP that'll work. Then you should change it back to static using the IP you've been assigned. It takes the guess work out of getting a good IP.

If you're not using DHCP then this trick won't work.

    Server shows copier offline

Canon IR3320. I have a Windows SBS2003 that has the the printer setup via a static IP, and I manage the server, so I know that the IP is valid; it is also outside of the DHCP range.

I want to set the server up to be a print server so I can roll out the printer via a script to all of the client computers. The client computers (XP) can connect to the printer by setting up a network printer. The server on the other hand gives the offline message.

The server can ping the copier, and open the copier's web interface.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks,

    Legrose
