Engine works fine. Magenta background on copies and scans only...
Thanks for looking at my problem.

Usually it's the drum. Do you know what the magenta drum percentage is and what version dc con is?

Drum seems fine, as background is only on the read side (copies, scans), but I don't know what the rcon is yet. Will soon.

dump r-con - run full auto grad , it normanlly works - if not make sure you have label print & perform dump of ALL to start from fresh

Unfortunately it won't run gradation, as when it scans it in it says it cannot recognize it. Because its scanning is so screwed.....

so an internal say pg 10 test is ok? and all print job are ok?
i would dump evrything(as per prev making sure i had label print)
start machine without reader attached - set up machine & again test internal print are ok - then add reader & check - if still faulty then start with ccd adj after that proably give up & replace r-con

Surely your printing out a P-Print before anything is cleared. Make sure that reinput values for R-con and the white plate values.
There is a label on the top right of the glass that has a couple of numbers. If you have cleared the reader controller PCB's RAM or decide to replace the reader controller PCB, enter the values on the service label.
Things to look into, would be R-con, and the CCD.
In service mode go to:
Copier>adjust>CCD
W-PLT-X
W-PLT-Y
W-PLT-Z
