    Angry Canon ir2870 Error e000100-0001

Hello I am new to the forum and highly appreciate your forum and knowledge.

I have a canon ir2870, and I am receiving error code e000100-0001, telling me to turn the printer off and then back on, same error everytime I try to use it. I have read the forums, and it seems to be a DC Controller? Please let me know if it could be something else.

If that is most likely my issue, can anyone please direct me to a website I can purchase parts from? I'm not having any luck buying them from eBay.

Also, this error started after my wife tried using sticky labels from the drawer when I wasn't home, if that could cause a problem, and you have any suggestions pleaes let me know, I really need this machine back up and running.

    Thank you!
    Paul

The error hasn't gone away because the problem's still there.

Get a tech to fix this.

If I wanted to pay a tech I wouldn't be posting. I'm extremly tech savvy, and I can do anything with a computer - but I havn't learned any canon error codes, or cared to find a location that sells Imagerunner parts recently. 97k printed on it, if that means anything to the issue.

By the way, what I meant by same error everything I use it, is the same error everytime I try to use it, meaning after I have tried something to remedy the problem. No point in trying to remedy something that is beyond my knowledge - but I wish to learn - hence my post.

E100 error codes are associated with laser / controller issues.

It could be something as simple as a loose connector, or a major meltdown.

As bnmand stated, you really need a qualified tech to check this out.

It will cost you way less than tackling it yourself.

    Just a thought...

Are you sure that you accounted for all the labels that you tried to print on?

Maybe one of the little critters came off inside the machine, (they do that a lot, especially the "non-approved" brands) and is blocking the laser, pulling on a wire, etc...

When you close the right side door the laser shutter opens up.
There's a possiblity that the laser shutter is blocking the laser.
You can also hear the laser fire up when you put the machine on
or touch any of the keys. If you don't hear that high pitch noise
then you have a bad laser.

The only fix for this is checking out that laser or shutter.

Alright, I will check that tomorrow morning, but I'm fairly certain I can hear it. I will look for the shutter.

    Thanks!
