    IRC 5185

Morning I have an IRC 5185 that I am having power issues, when I turn the machine on it boots like normal and goes to the then home screen. during the warm up process the Copier makes a weird noise like a crackling noise then the Copier shuts off, but the little black switch on the left side of the copier if you are facing the copier trips to the off position. there is no error code or no warning it just cuts off if I flip that little black breaker like switch the machine comes back on and does the same thing everytime. Not sure if anyone can point me in the right direction spoke to some other sr techs and they said that they never ran into a problem like that. Thanks in advance for all your help.

Look around the fuser section, check out the fixing unit.

Try to get into service mode if you can and check the error log

I had the exact senario on a 3200 a week after a fuser rebuild. Swapped the old unit in for test purposes, and the machine booted up.
It would be the first place I would test.

I went to a 5180 2 weeks ago with EXACTLY the same issue...crackling sound and tripping the circuit breaker.
The Upper fixing belt is torn...better order a new fixing unit if you don't have one on hand.

    Smile Fixing Unit Belt

Thank you guys it was indeed the upper fixing Unit belt that was thorn and making the noise, so replaced the Fixing Unit Copier working great.

    Thank you.
