Post IR 550/600 E677

Hello I have some IR 550 and 600's that are giving me various print issues. When I swap hard drives the issues go away so I'm looking for 2 things:

1) The cannon service support tool (or whatever I need for this model to reformat and reinstal firmware)
2) The firmware I will need to reinstall

I would greatly appreciate any help. TIA

I can be reached at kedaire@hotmail.com

first you dont need SST ,what you need is PDL downloader
second you need is installation software not firmware.
third. i dont have what you need threw it out along with my 15 605's long time back

Dear Sir,
If you don't have pdl downloader, use HDD cloning tools or disk ultility software to clone a working HDD raw data to a new HDD will do.

I think E677 is BOOTROM/PRINTER BOARD error.

Thanks!

Thanks for the input everyone! I'm sorry if I was rude by asking for stuff on my first post, I was reading through some posts last night and realized my requests were probably out of line.

Is the PDL downloader available somewhere that i could download it? Or is it something that only Canon offers? I'm guessing I would also need software as well? I'm not exactly sure what I am doing with these, all I know is that swapping the hard drives out fixes the E677 so I was hoping formatting and reinstalling would fix them, but maybe I am mistaken?

I haven't tried it personally, but I am told that they have tried cloning the working hard drives to no avail. Is there a software utility that you can suggest to do this, and possibly direction as to how to go about it? Thanks so much!

Which means one of your drive is good, not the firmware.

You have one faulty HDD and at least one working HDD, is it?
PLease use the HDD ultility to ANALYZE BLOCK (Disk raw sector). IF no bad sector found, you can reuse this HDD. Most posibility cause by corrupt file. So, clone a known working HDD image to this HDD will do.
If bad sector found, need a new HDD.
You may also need to keep different version of HDD contain. (v1.0,1.1,2.0,2.1)so to match with firmware of printer board.

PDl Downloader

Ok, I haven't tried cloning the drives yet, but I will do that next. I managed to get a copy of thd PDL downloader and the system software, but when I download it, the machines are saying that it is a bad file type. I am using a version 2.1 .um file. I read somewhere that the IR's don't use an .um file, they use an EFI file, but I get the same error when I try those as well. Any ideas on that front?
