    Exclamation Ir6020 e061-0001

I changed the drum cleaning blade on this machine and now it has this code. The drum at first was possible not turning due to screw/key to the drum shaft wasn't aligned, but has since been corrected. I did dust off the potential sensor with a hand blower duster with a gentle amount of air. Is it the potential sensor? Has anyone had this problem? Thanks in advance for your help. Jerry

Inspect what you did, thats the best advice. If you did not have this error before look at what you did.

    skibum,
Some of the hardest problems I've had to solve were the ones that I
created. I hate when I do that.
Screwtape is right, I've learned to back track first. Check the erase lamp
is connected and everything else around the drum.

    From the manual:

E 061 - the laser shutter is faulty, the laser unit is faulty, the potential
measurement PCB is faulty, the dc controller is faulty.

0001-As a result of potential control the drum surface (VL2) of the white
background is about 200V. (Generating a solid black image)

0002-The primary charger output used for print output and the drum
surface potential after laser output has been made are about 200V
    (generating a solid black image)

Basicly, the drum does not have enough charge to repel the toner.
Are you getting solid black copy? If so look for something that would
cause that. Check all the chargers make sure the wires are at the
correct height. And clean. Also check to see if the laser shutter is
working. Some of these machines use a tab on the door to open the
shutter, I don't remember if this is one, but I did run into that on a canon
    color unit for 2 days.
I have also made it a point to have the book open for any model that I
am working on, when I have the book. Do you need the book?

Also on the ir5000/6000 series if the customer is not running a lot of
volume on the machine the toner under the cleaning augar tends to
harden and the little gears on the front get stripped. The sypmtom
for this is gray sploches on the copy and gray stuff on the transport
belts. And in the transfer charger. I usually chip it out with a small
flat blade screwdriver by taping the end with a bigger screwdriver.
Then replace the gears if needed. The heat from the fuser causes this
problem, so the fan in the front has to work, clean the filter.
The heat will also warp the air duct next to the drum, which is connected
to the filter you just cleaned. It sounds worse that it really is.

    Good luck

    DR
