irc 1021i fading problem

HELP!
i have a customer with an irc 1021i with an intermittent problem. The copy suddenly goes faint on a run. part of the page affected is ok while the rest is almost unreadable. Was there yesterday an ran it for an hour without a problem. Has now come back in again saying it is doing it within 5 copies. customer originally thought it was black drum unit as was only coping on black so he put in a new unit. any ideas as not worked on these before!

I´ve seen 2 machines with this problem, and on those 2 machines, it was problem with the 2 springs that is located in the ITB assemly, they had moved out of their correct positions. It would be easier if I had a picture to show you, but when you pull down the ITB so you can see the drums, in the upper part of the ITB assy, the springs should be located. Check and see so they are in place.
