| IRC3220 vs CLC1180 The 2 machines are pretty different:
- through the 1180 the paper passes 4 times for a color print while through the 3220 it passes once - so the speed is much better for the 3220 (32 pages vs 11 pages)
- media tipe - the 1180 can handle upto 209 gsm while the 3220 upto 253 gsm
- print quality (not copy) is also in favor of the 3220 - newer machine - if you want an even better/faster rip get the CLC3220 (same machine + a Fiery RIP)
- copy quality - it's a matter of taste, but the 1180 uses silicone oil mixed with the toner, so it "smoothes" the pixels, you also get a much glossier print and you can feel the toner on the paper - it looks pretty good; the 3220 gives a matte print compared to the other (you should see same image printed on both machines, also to make a copy on both)
- in terms of service and supplies: the 3220 easier to maintain, most units easily changed by user, price per copy beter, while the 1180 needs service tech to change drum, developer etc.
- as a conclusion, the 1180 not a bad machine, but the 3220 is a newer generation, faster, better print/RIP, easier to maintain |
