    Cannon Image Class error

hello everyone, I have a problem with my Cannon Image class 2200 when I go make a copy the scanner does not move, it's basically locked in place and the machine flashes error, I do not know how to access the service mode for this machin..any insight would be helpful. I tested the home position sensor and the scanner moves freely when I move it by hand other than that when I try to make a copy it locks into place. TIA

I used to work on a couple of these many years ago. They once again are more fax machine than copier. The service mode was hard to maneuver through, and the problem/error codes were hard to decipher... What I recall was my resolution most of the time for this was replacing the fuser assembly. If you have access to a working one you could try the swap and see.

As I recall the process was hit the start button, the paper would pre-feed, stalling out waiting for the scanning process to begin, and timing out when the scan did not occur. I believe the "copier" was waiting for the fuser to come to temp before initiating the scan...

I don't miss working on those machines

no the scanner is not locked, as I removed the glass and moved the scanner to the right side of the machine then powered it on to check to see if the home position sensor functions.

My gut feeling is fuser as the issue... that is my advice.

Yup, especially if you are not getting any service errors, usually on this model its a Fuser/Fixing error. I wouldn't try rebuilding it either, because the last one I replaced for this issue appeared to be in good order with good Rollers and clean thermistors. I believe you can get into service mode and the very first SW# make it say 000000001 with a one on the end, save it and reboot machine. This should display service errors if it will display one. Good luck. Let us know how you make out.
The glass maybe half full, but less is more...
Printer + Fax + Copier = Jack Of Many Trades,
    but Master Of None
Color Copier = Not A Color Printer
InkJet MFP = Not A Fax Machine
    B/W Copier = Not A Press
Finisher = Deal Closer (salesman, not accessory)
Copier Tech = Admin's Stress Ball (Scapegoat)

It'd be F(*&^% nice if we had the error code to work with.
You tell us that it displays an error code on the screen but have yet to tell us what the code is.
I get really sick of repeating 'HOW TO ASK A TECH A QUESTION 101"
