iR C2620 scan / send options advice

Hi all, new to the site and after a bit of advice so thanks in advance.

We have a Canon iR C2620 but it doesn't seem to have the Send Function (scan). I managed to get into the configuration via a browser after getting useful password reset info from this forum.

Is it just likely to be an upgrade required ? when we enquired with the supplier they said it would do basic scanning but for anything else would be very expensive, they didn't say how much.

Under Device info, I have iR C2620, Main Board Ver. 3, Cntller, 8203.7001.3706, Scanner Ver, 401.501, Finisher Ver. 402.

Anyway comparing with another iR C3580, under Device/Features it only lists 26ppm, Int Board (blank) Duplex available, Doc feeder DADF, Paper source (blank) Output Option Finisher.

Whereas the 3580, lists internal hdd, Send function available and a lot more.

Assuimming and upgarde is required is it hardware / software or both ?
Many Thanks
Mark

You need a send kit which is a software license that enables the feature.

Many thanks for the swift response Skynet, is the send kit available on-line anywhere as a purchase then download ?

Or am I best going back to the supplier and getting through them ? would a hdd be required for this also ?

Thanks

I would recommend you do this. The send kit is a number or key that is typed into a canon website, the serial number of the machine is then entered and an activation code is then displayed that when entered into the copier enables the send.

As far as I know its not available as a download.

Your copier had a hard drive already.

As a matter of interest the web user interface can on some copiers be a bit unreliable as far as showing the scans folder.
You might like to try this on your IRC3580
start/run \\ ip address ie \\172.16.1.100

Tried the start run option but on the iR C2629 I get an error box saying "No network provider accepted the given network path"

On The iR C3580 I just get a blank explorer screen with the path IP address at the top.

Both display ok using IE or Firefox though so no problems, I guess the main difference is the 3580 is a much newer machine.

I'll go back to the supplier for the upgrade.

Thanks again for advice.

Item Code:8375A009AA universal send kit A2P
Item Code: 8202A002AA resolution switching board A2

Both of these item are required for the send feature.
