Can I run a 110v canon via a 240v stepdown

I am think of importing a canon from the USA to NZ

most of the local machine seam to be have large click rates and few options

$900USD vs $2000USD for a local machine

only concern is how the motors will handle the difference in Hertz 50vs60hz

I have contact who can ship for $150

Ive imported Pinball machine and Video games without any issue

I have a huge beast of a transformer 500va it can handle the 8amp pinball machines

If I'm not wrong USA machine is using 115v, so if you are going to use the step down transformer, make sure the output of the transformer must be 115v, if you use lesser it will affect the temperature of the fuser unit. For the motor it using dc motor ( dc 24v ) so it can take 50 or 60hz. You need to take note if the motor using is driving by AC voltage.

I strongly suspect the stepdown will not be an issue BUT the 50Hz vs 60Hz may cause issues with the motors (induction) as so many things are based on rotation speed and timing. Having to replace all the induction electronics may be the primary cause of the price increase.

You right the Hz may change the motor speeds,

also Canon in NZ wont put it on a service plan

Remember the first machine I touch, NP270RE, This mahine have a clutch gear box, both scaner and main motor works on AC. The main board have DIP switch for user to select 50/60 Hz. Model after this, NP300Z ,and so on, main motors work on 24V DC. Need not care about 50/60 Hz. I am working with a recon machine co. And at 240 voltage area. For 100/115 Volts machine, just think of some way to insert a 1KW autotransfomer into machine.

dont worry , it will work absolutly ok. i am running 2 canon machine in india from 2 years with step down transformer. care should be taken that never plugin the machine with direct 230v. it will damage ur ip board and power supply
