Exclamation Canon ImageCLASS MF6530 help

Hi all, I have the Canon MF6530 & have a problem that when copying using the ADF it will only feed one sheet even if I put more than one on the tray, it doesn’t jam it just wont attempt to take any more than one document in. Yet if I put a stack in & use the ADF cleaning feature it feeds fine, any idea what this could be anyone? I thought about updating the firmware but cant find it anywhere, could some please sent it to me? Any info would be a great help, the machine has only done 400 copies!

As I understand it, this is the consumer version of the iR1023 series. Your problem appears to be a main board (controller board) issue as this consumer model is known for having problems (could also be a memory issue). Reflashing the firmware just might solve the issue (like it does for a 1023) HOWEVER Canon (Japan) refuses to release the software necessary for field reflashing of consumer systems. Only solution is to replace the board.

You need to take it back where you bought it. If that fails, your only other option is to call Canon Warranty Service (number should be in with the papers/documents you received when you unpacked the unit). Canon will want some information and then provide you with instructions on where to take/send the unit for repair.

Yeah, it sucks. Hope you bought it from a good store and not online.

Hi, thanks for the info. We bought this on eBay so no chance of a warranty claim. It sounded like a simple fault (I am a copier engineer) so I just wanted to flash the firmware, but like you say there doesn't seem to be any! Shame

Thanks again.

I would not give up so easily. The call to Canon is toll-free and the worst they could say is no. If it actually has only 400 copies, it may fall into a group that they will fix it - especially since it is a known issue with these units. I am sure they would not want to face a possible class action suit by refusing to fix a know equipment defect. Then again, I am no lawyer.
