Question Canon irc5185i fuser error

i have an ir c5185i with an error code 000007-0102 which points to the fuser unit pressure belt sensor. let me get this right, you can only buy the whole fuser unit for approx. $1500 bucks which may only last 250000 copies if your lucky? can the fuser unit be rebuilt or reset?
please inform, thanks

I feel your pain.

As for all of us we all suffer. If you are a canon dealer and this unit came with the machine, meaning if it has not be replaced before or did not reach its life expectancy you can probably be warranted. There are no parts for this fixing unit it must be replaced.

LOL the last call I did today was for the exact same code. I had to suck it up and order the $1500 part.
This didn't work for me today but it got me out the door once, only to come back the next day and spend a lot of money .
Copier>Function>Fixing run the FX-UHP-S and FX-LHP-S, they take about 5 minutes each.

Canon has a huge bulletin dealing with e007s but nothing ever seems to fix them. Sometimes you can get it running but the fuser almost always needs to be replaced. You can replace some items in the fuser like gears and sensors but you cant get the parts to rebuild one. I know that Hytech sells these units refurbished.

The reason it didn't work is because you're only supposed to run it for a new unit.
A tip for you guys...
You can order a cheap gear from Canon that sits in the belt displacement motors for fixing and pressure belts.
The original stock belt displacement assemblies came with a plastic gear that strips teeth and causes E0007-0102/0202.
We only fit complete units for fusers that DON'T respond to this repair...but I'm telling you...about 80% of E0007 errors I've fixed by replacing those gears.
You just remove the fuser and both motor assemblies...physically move whichever belt has wandered back towards the center ...fit the new gears...reassemble and away you go.
I'll post up the part number for the gear when I have it to hand.
