Due to the age of the machine, a replacement op panel is your best bet. A refurb would do just fine. If you take all the time to disassemble down to the board and clean it and the buttons surfaces, it may work no better, or you could actually make matters worse.

Issue may be either a broken key or the key switch.

It reads like you are not a tech so trying to talk you through control panel removal, desolder, replacing the key switch, re-soldering, and replacement of the control panel would be less than easy.

You need to call a tech. He/she will just replace the key(s) or control panel PCB andor the keys as they are not a high cost items AND would be cheaper to replace than to rebuild.

The plastic bridge post are probably broken, your better off doing a complete replacement, with a used control panel, most of the guys here will probably have one at a reasonable cost laying around.

replace control panel

I agree with Mr Fix it, on having your control panel replaced. It likely is the best option as far as having your copier working fully operational again.
