    Canon C330d Default Exposure

I can see how to enter the service mode, but do not have a manual. A customer wants to change the default exposure from auto to a few knotches down. Thanks.

He can do this with the density control within the control panel.
You cannot default to manual exposure on this model. Maybe the Exposure Calibration in the Operator’s Guide could help or shed more light.

Yea I may have to go out to the site. I figured the A (auto) they were referring to exposure...not a canon tech at all and unfamiliar with the control panel's or how to change defaults.

They may need to have the copier calibrated because the images are coming out too dark. No magic bullet for this. On color imagerunners we have auto gradation, but on this old girl we needed to do this manually in service mode. First off the optics have to be cleaned, and this may actually resolve your problem without the adjustment, so be sure to clean it first and test it. If that does not resolve the issue, enter service mode and perform the following:

    Additional Functions
    2 & 8 together
    Additional Functions

should be in service mode now...

    3 - Adjust mode

    DENS ADJUST
set to 5 and press OK

    4 - Functions mode

    CCD
    CCD-ADJ
press the OK in display panel lower right corner

    DENS
    WHITE-ME
place at least 5 sheets white paper on scan glass and press OK

    PD-DENS
    press the copy start key

    PD-ME
place previous generated print on glass, light bands to left side and press OK

    DZ-DENS
    press the copy start key

    DZ-ME
place previous generated print on glass, light bands to left side and press OK

The copier is now calibrated,,, this should be performed whenever copy quality calss are generated, and at drum change ...
