Upgrade system software:
Changes Made When Upgrading DCON (iR C3100 DCON v45.01 to v48.01) & (iR C3170/C2570 v14.01 to v17.01).
Modification of E020 lower limit error (E020-xxA9/ E020-xxA0)
1. Due to the drum wear after durability, patch density becomes dark and toner supply becomes little. This error is modified.(Y,M,C)
2-1. Lower limit limiter for toner amount is added to the toner supply control of the colour developers. By doing so, when the toner reaches to the limit amount, toner is supplied, and the toner amount does not become lower than the specific level. (Y,M,C)
2-2. Service mode settings (Toner supply amount range/Default value) are changed. (Y, M, C)
Toner supply amount range: Changed from ""0-2"" to ""0-6"".
Default value: Changed from ""0"" to ""4"".
[Service mode]
Service mode (Level 2) > ADJ > DENS > HLMT_PTY
Service mode (Level 2) > ADJ > DENS > HLMT_PTM
Service mode (Level 2) > ADJ > DENS > HLMT_PTC
[Points to note after upgrading]
* When ""4"" is not displayed as a default of foregoing Service modes, change to ""4"".
Yep...Update system software to the latest version(I think it's a thumb drive update for that model).
Critical parameters have been modified for the way the patch read and atr sensors take their readings in the latest software.
And you should monitor the color yellow.
Hi,
You can try to check & clean PS23, Patch Image Read Sensor (detect the density of toner image on the drum).
What operating time of the developer? The old developer badly keeps a toner - the sensor PS23 quickly becomes soiled.
Good luck
To add to what Victor had to say,, any time I removed the drum on this beasty, I would take my spray can and blast out the patch sensor. It cuts down on the recalls...
Hi
There has been plent service info on the E020 problem. The basics of it is to update firmware first. Keep your patch and ATR sensor clean. Check drumlife (lines on drum causes faulty readings). Monitor your toner signals (Y/M/C) You might need to detone or tone up to get them within spesification. There is a modified clutch (FK2-6000) for under or overtoning. This is a common problem in the field.
Good luck
PS: did you clear drumlife when fitting drum
Yes, mrfixit51 and Gerhard are right
These sensors are points of REGULAR maintenance service.
