When you load the firmware for a Canon device into the SST part of the information provided is a list of valid hard drive designations for the model.
This list of HDD's not only specifies the name of each valid drive type but also the hardware specifications
such as number of read/write heads, platters, surfaces, segment sizes and other technical data describing the features and capacity of the HDD to the SST.
Canon updates these lists when they use different forms of drives in the different models of copiers and when you install a more recent version of the firmware for a model into your SST you are also updating this list of HDD's.
**Knowledge is time consuming, exhausting and costly for a trained Tech.**
MK6014 is unsuitable, MK2023 suit if using cloning method.
The 2023 drive for sure, and I believe the 6014 in early production runs, were used in the iR2200 family of copiers. I cannot say whether they are suitable for use in the 2270, since Canon figured out that we were editing the format .ift files. They encrypted the 2270 and following models so we could not do that. The MK4032GAX is the drive we are currently using to support all the 2.5" drive needs except the 3245 series...
Be sure to use the latest system software, as the formatting table is updated to include the latest supported drives as they are added...
